An event started last night at Midnight that allows you to get new goodies based upon BG wins (other than honor/marks). The only prizes revealed so far are a new tabard (with the Olympic logo) and a medallion that summons a gold dragon non-combat pet.

Great run tonight with Jarflock of (Order of the Ebon Shield) who came in a very close second in the herbing contest. Very skilled player who held his own. Enjoy your purplez! 
 
Trallara couldn't be reached for comment, however based upon the posting "Seeing your dead body will make me giggle. I like entertainment! " I imagine he had a ball with Council! (Giggling at yourself is healthy, really!)

The Wrath of the Lich King invitations have started to go out, and we have officially begun the beta test. As with The Burning Crusade, the beta-test process for Wrath of the Lich King will occur in phases, during which we will be inviting players who have opted-in to participate. https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/beta-opt-in.html?ticket=ST-3401534-Hnk2gUxJas2J3XUVdYYa

Also, the NDA for WoTLK has been lifted! MMO-Champion has a TON of new information that they are updating now that there is no NDA. I'm off to do a little research on the new Inscription and Runeforging.

Patch 2.4.3 is going live today. Some highlights include: 
 
# Dispel effects will no longer attempt to remove effects that have 100% dispel resistance. 
# Parry Rating, Defense Rating, and Block Rating: Low-level players will now convert these ratings into their corresponding defensive stats at the same rate as level 34 players. 
# Haris Pilton has launched a new line of bags and jewelry. Check her out in the World’s End Tavern! 
# Mounts at 30?! Yes, it’s true: Apprentice Riding and mounts are now available at level 30. Training costs 35 gold. 
# Blood Elf flightmasters outside of Silvermoon City and Tranquillien have traded in their bats for glorious fire-breathing dragonhawks. 
# Alcohol cooldowns have been rolled into Drinks: All 10-second cooldowns have been removed and replaced with the 1-second Drink cooldown. 
# Numerous flying non-combat pets have had their flight height modified to no longer skim along the ground: captured firefly, dragonhawk hatchlings, moths, owls, parrots, phoenix hatchling, spirit of summer, sprite darter, and tiny sporebat. 
# Nether Ray Fry (a non-combat pet) is now available from the Skyguard Quartermaster. This requires an Exalted reputation with Sha’tari Skyguard. 
# Equipping an item will now cancel any spell cast currently in progress. 
# Placing an item in your bank will now cancel any spell cast currently in progress if the spell was cast by that item. 
# You can no longer move backwards to stop racing rams. 
# When a stun wears off, the creature that was stunned will prefer the last target with the highest threat, versus the current target.

Blizzard has made a device available to help those of us who play WoW feel a bit more secure when it comes to the integrity of our account. The device, called the Blizzard Authenticator is a small token (for you IT nerds, it's an RSA token-like device) that is tied to your account and generates a number that must be input each login.

Achievement system in WotLK?

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King: Friends and Family Alpha

Welcome to the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Friends and Family Alpha. The list below contains information on the current available content for testing and general information.
This information is subject to change.

General

* The continent of Northrend is now available! To travel there, visit one of four transportation masters in either Orgrimmar, Undercity, Theramore,or Menethil Harbor.
* Transportation between Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra can be found at the Tuskarr villages in those zones.
* Portals from Shattrath to Vengeance Landing, Warsong Hold, Valgarde and Valiance Keep can be found in the Terrace of Light.
* The level cap is currently set to 75.
* NPC Transportation Locations
o Horde:
+ Undercity to Vengeance Landing (Howling Fjord)
+ Orgrimmar to Warsong Hold (Borean Tundra)
o Alliance:
+ Menethil Harbor to Valgarde (Howling Fjord)
+ Theramore to Valiance Keep (Borean Tundra)

Known Issues

* The current patch notes are incomplete, but will be more comprehensive in the next patch.
* Northrend portals may sometimes not function properly.
* Several Death Knight talents, although they will appear on the talent pane, are not yet implemented.

World Environment Zones

* The following zones are available for testing: Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra, Dragonblight, and Grizzly Hills

Dungeons

* The following dungeons are available for testing:
* Howling Fjord: Utgarde Keep (70-72)
* Borean Tundra: The Nexus (70-72)
* Grizzly Hills: Drak'Tharon Keep (74-76)

Classes

* All Classes are available for play. Spells and talents will be available for testing past 70 for the following classes: Druid, Mage, Priest, Shaman, Warlock and Warrior.
* The Death Knight Hero class is now available for play.
o Creating a new Death Knight will start you at level 55 in Eastern Plaguelands.
o No starting quests are implemented though Death Knight abilities will be available for testing.

Professions

* The following tradeskills are available to train up to 450: First Aid, Herbalism, Mining, and Skinning.

Bugs

* Fixed a bug that would cause the streaming client to frequently crash.
* Fixed a bug that would allow players to get stuck in Wyrmrest Temple.
* Fixed a hole in the world inside Drak'Tharon Keep.

An amazing amount of information has been posted at both <A HREF="http://www.mmo-champion.com/" target="_blank">MMO-Champion</A> and <A HREF="http://www.worldofraids.com/" target="_blank">World of Raids</A>. 
 
Some of the yumminess includes Deathknight abilities (holy smokes!), screenshots and details about WoTLK levels, dungeons and yes..there will be flying mounts available..at level 77 o.O 
 
I dunno about you, but I'm getting psyched.
