According to several news sites, the next expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, has entered the Alpha testing phase. As the testing progresses, Blizzard will begin sending out random beta invites. This makes prime hunting grounds for those wanting to scam you out of your hard earned purplez.

I'll say this, when those beta invites start rolling out, please, PLEASE be careful. It is very simple to try to fool you into clicking a link purporting itself to be the beta signup site, THIS IS A SCAM. Don't believe it. It may look like an official blizzard site, the email may have a return address of @worldofwarcraft.com or @blizzard.com, all in an effort to take your stuff.

You have enough computer security folks in the guild that if there is ANY question about the validity of an invite or website, we can take a look at it and give you an expert opinion. Keep also in mind these simple things:

1. There will be NO beta signups. It is by invitation only. If an email invites you to go to a website to sign up, IT'S A SCAM

2. Blizzard will NEVER ask you for your password or personal/account information in an email.

3. Make sure your contact information is updated so in the event you are sent an invite, they have the correct email address to send it to.
